Honda’s Upcoming Electric Scooter: Activa EV

Hey, have you heard about Honda’s upcoming electric scooter?

A new teaser released by Honda confirms the features and range of the new Activa EV model. The Honda Activa EV is expected to come in two variants.

Key Features

The company offers both LCD and TFT screens, LED headlamps, LED taillights, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless start/stop functionality, trip readouts, navigation, music, and call functions, and more.

While Honda has not yet released the powertrain specifications, the most recent teaser confirms the new model will feature two riding modes: Standard and Sport. In Standard mode, the e-scooter is projected to provide a real-world range of 104 kilometres per charge, with a slightly reduced range in Sport mode. Additionally, we anticipate Honda will offer the e-scooter with both disc brake and drum brake options, depending on the variant.

Design and Battery

As per reports, the new Honda Activa EV draws inspiration from the CUV e-concept scooter showcased at EICMA 2024. Design-wise, the e-scooter boasts a streamlined and minimalistic front with an expansive LED headlamp, wraparound taillamp, and a flat seat.

While the concept model incorporates a dual 1.3 kWh removable battery pack, it is anticipated that the Indian model will adopt a fixed battery unit instead. The Activa EV’s single-side swing-arm mounted motor is projected to deliver performance comparable to a 110cc to 125cc scooter.

Competition and Pricing

The primary competitor to the new Honda Activa EV is the Ola S1 X, which boasts a claimed range of 95 kilometres from its 2kWh battery pack. While the Ola is priced at ₹75,000 (ex-showroom), we anticipate the Honda Activa EV to be priced between ₹85,000 and ₹1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
